I honestly never imagined myself becoming a photographer – it wasn’t something I set out to achieve. I have always had a desire to create – haven’t always had the skills to do so. I do remember wanting, as a child, to be a photographer for National Geographic – one career aspiration among many. Once I had my own children, and my husband surprised me with my first Canon Rebel, my love for photography resurfaced, but in a different direction. Now, photography has shaped my life in ways I never dreamed of, and I am so thankful for it.
In addition to being a photographer, I am also a wife, mother of 2, and a nurse. I am a geek and proud of it, and can read for hours on end. I also love being outside. One of my favorite things is actually finding gorgeous places outside where I can sit and read for hours!
I grew up in lower Michigan but followed my husband to the colder, snowier, wilder, beautiful upper peninsula, and now I never want to leave. I love where I live and feel at home here.
I have always been an introvert, and that is another reason I love photography so much – it pulls me out of my shell, and when I’m behind the camera I feel like my true self. I empathize with you if you do not want to be in front of the camera. I also feel, though, that it’s incredibly important. You deserve to see the beauty of your story from someone else’s eyes. To have it documented.
I would love to help you document your story. I did always want to be a writer, and they say a picture is worth a thousand words . . .
