Newborns

Newborn sessions are some of my very favorite to capture. Brand new babies have so many sweet little details that they will grow out of in only a few short weeks, and I’ve invested much these past few years into education, props, and equipment, so that I can capture these details for you as timeless, beautiful images, and do so with the safety of your little one as my first priority.

These sessions take place at my downtown Escanaba studio, and are typically about 3 hours long.  Parent poses are included (and encouraged!) and so are sibling poses if this is not your first child.  I take care of all the details and have lots of props, wraps, headbands, etc to choose from.  There is nothing you need to purchase or bring, though if there is something special you would like included, I am happy to accommodate that as well.

It’s never too early to book your newborn session and get your due date on my calendar.  Once baby is here, let me know, and we will set a date for the session, about 5-15 days after birth.  Booking early and scheduling for these first few weeks will ensure that baby is still sleepy, squishy, and curly for those sweet little newborn poses.

I truly believe that, if you are going to invest in professional photos, you should come away with professional results.  For more information about products I offer to display your art, check out my prints and products.  To find out more information about newborn sessions, or to book yours, contact me.

Milestone

Children grow faster than we realize when we see them every day, and capturing their milestones is a great way to see those changes over time.  These changes happen especially fast during baby’s first year.  Milestone sessions can take place at any stage you would like – popular options are 3 months, 6 months, 9 months, and baby’s first year.  Other options are to go by baby’s stages – tummy time, sitting, and then first year.  Adding in a cake smash or other fun activity (donut smash? Taco time? Fingerpainting?) to a first year session can also be great fun.

I typically keep my milestone sessions simple and sweet – I like the focus to be on the details of your little one, rather than on lots of props. This also helps your session feel timeless.  I do keep a collection of boutique outfits on hand for babies in their first year, and am always adding to this collection.  If you do have a particular theme or idea in mind, I am always open to these as well.

Family

I feel that capturing your family is one of the best things you can do.  I also feel that it shouldn’t be a chore.  While I do always strive for the one or two “everyone look at the camera and smile” poses, my favorite images are the ones of you as a family interacting, having fun.  You already know what you look like – so do your children.  Yes, that appearance changes with time, and yes, it is fun to look back and see those changes.  But what is the *most* special to look back and see, is the beauty of the love between you.  To see the joy in your child’s eye as you hold them close, or toss them in the air.  To remember the feeling of their little hands in yours, their weight in your arms, those things you will miss.

So those are the moments I strive to capture.  Family sessions are best outdoors in the evenings, about an hour before sunset.  Simple family sessions can also take place at my downtown Escanaba studio.  I offer assistance throughout the entire process, from planning your outfits to choosing the best products to display your art.  To see some of the products I offer click here, and to learn more about family sessions, or book yours, contact me here.

Maternity

I remember feeling so amazed at what my body was capable of when carrying my children.  How within the span of a year, it would change so drastically to accommodate a growing life, and then revert back to (almost) normal.  Pregnancy is such a special time in life and, whether you are feeling glamorous or not, it is certainly a time worth remembering.  Worth documenting.

Maternity sessions can take place in my studio or at an outdoor location.  They can be just mom, or include the family.  You can get dolled up in one of my maternity gowns, or keep it simple in your own jeans and t-shirt.  However you want your maternity session to be, that is what we will make it.  To find out more information about maternity sessions, or to book yours, contact me here.

Other Sessions

While the above categories are my niche, I thrive on variety.  If you are looking for any other type of session, contact me here.
