I love when a toy makes its way into a photo - I’d asked mom and dad if we wanted to try taking it away before photographing, and they said, “Nope! We’ve had so many photos with random toys in them and we love it.” The little toy seal is subtle, and shows a little “realness” in these photos. I *know* it's uncomfortable to be in front of the I *know* it's uncomfortable to be in front of the camera, but I also know two things about doing it anyway: 1) The people who love you do so no matter what you look like, and they see you in *every* light, not just the perfect photo session light. They will be so, so glad to have photos of you, and with you - and you will be grateful too. Hopefully right away, but it's OK if that takes time. 2) The more you allow yourself to be photographed, and see yourself as you are, the more you can accept and embrace that image. You aren't someone that needs to be fixed or photoshopped, and *yes* you deserve to be in photos. I'm grateful for everyone that allows themselves to be in front of my camera. I'm so proud of each of you <3 I had a morning slot open up for Saturday the 12th for Mommy and Me's, and have openings for both Saturday and Sunday the 26th/27th (is there something going on that weekend that I don't know about?) And I'm always scheduling family sessions, milestones, newborns, and yes - boudoir. (umm is it time for another boudoir special yet by the way??) If you'd like to work together, DM me and let's plan your session! I promise I'm just awkward enough to help you feel super comfortable in front of the camera 🤣
Two really exciting things happened last week: 1) Two really exciting things happened last week: 1) I hung up 3 pictures! I am the *worst* at printing my own photos, and I'm on a kick to fix that. Walking by these every day makes me smile, and reminds me why I do what I do! Seeing your photos printed big is 💯 better than seeing them on your phone. (this is one and I shared the others in my newsletter - raise your hand if you'd like to subscribe and I'll get you added!) 2) I got a new vacuum! Ours was almost 18 years old and pretty much just pushing the hair around. We got a Shark this time, and while there's things I liked about our Dyson, I can't argue with the amount of hair and dust being pulled out of our carpets! I've also never felt quite so old, being so excited for a cleaning product 🙈🤣 What's your exciting thing right now? Nothing is too big or too small, I want to hear!

(or spam if you don’t see it) It was easier to bring the dog than my kids to the studio yesterday, so we played around with one of the setups. It’s going to be even prettier once I’ve had time to perfect it, but I love the warmth and simplicity of this! I picture you cuddling your kids close, or watching them play their favorite game. This will be one of the setups for Warm Tones, and I’ll have the tan arch set up again as well, with some texture and greenery added. Warm Tones days are April 12th, 13th, and 26th. April 27th will be Bright and Clean, with crisp whites, hints of greenery, and gorgeous backlight! There’s still a few openings for each weekend, so let me know if you have any questions! Just for fun this sweet girl and I ran some errand Just for fun this sweet girl and I ran some errands today and spent some time at the studio. She’s only been there a few times, but ran right to the door and was so excited to go in! She poses like a champ, too. I’m on a kick for printing and hanging up photos that have been on my computer or in my mind for literally years, so it’s not exactly helpful to add *more* to the mix, but I couldn’t resist! I still never did anything with her 1 year portraits, and she will be 4 in just a few days! Not to mention the 15 years worth of photos of my kids. I did put together and print an image that was 3 years in the making yesterday, and it makes me so happy to see it on the wall every time I walk by. It’s really motivated me to go back through other photos and hang them up too! And just from the volume of photos I have, I think some photo books will be in order too. I’m absolutely the worst at printing my own photos, which is why I always include printed product in your packages! I’ve never hung a picture up so fast. This is I’ve never hung a picture up so fast. This is my favorite view in the world. It’s where my heart lives. When we pull into the driveway of the cabin and see the boardwalk leading to the bay, with that pine tree hovering above, I feel at home. 2 years ago it was our first summer there without my grandma. It felt unreal, and not right, being there without her. But we still feel her, when a hummingbird comes to feed or an eagle soars by. She is still in so much of our lives. I took this of my kids and my grandpa that summer, but it was a cloudy day and didn’t do the bay justice. Last summer we had a gorgeous evening and I ran for my camera. And several years ago, I photographed an immature eagle on our beach. To be able to bring all three of those photos together in this way feels line *why* I became a photographer. To honor our past, to recognize both the pain of our loss and the beauty of what we had.
