I remember being in complete awe of my pregnant belly. I would lay on my side and not even be able to comprehend how it stretched so far. The flutters and kicks of little hands and feet – how could that be an actual person in there?! What would they look like? What would they be like?
Pregnancy is such as short time in our lives, but it is one of the biggest, most incredible events. In the span of a year, your body will stretch and grow a whole new life, and then shrink again – it feels surreal, and sometimes you’ll wonder how it was even possible.
Professional maternity photos weren’t so much a thing when I was expecting, but I wish they had been. I have snapshots, and one self-portrait I took before I knew what I was doing with a camera, but I don’t think I could ever have enough pictures of that time.
Now that 15 years have passed and my son is taller than I am – it feels like a dream I wish I could go back to.
