Clark’s mom decorates very traditionally, with accents of white, cream, and gray, so that was how we planned his newborn session.  I’ve been trying to up my “gray” game lately, as I always trend toward warmer neutrals, and I found some gray cheesecloth at Hobby Lobby that I layered over some gray seamless paper – I’m loving the look!  I still love my barn wood backdrop, but I feel like both the dark and the light are just not quite right with grays, and this is a great alternative.

Clark was a peanut of a baby, especially considering that my next two newborns were closer to the 10 lb mark!  It’s amazing what just a pound or two makes on these little miracles.

We did the normal posed parent images, but we also did some relaxed lifestyle poses on the bed against my brick wall.  These are usually my favorite and this session was no exception!

(Funny story about that – when my grandmother came to see my studio for the first time, she said, “It’s too bad you can’t cover up that brick wall with a backdrop or something.  Most people don’t have brick in their bedrooms!”  I thought this was hilarious, as the brick was what drew me to the studio space in the first place!)
