Elsie’s mom and grandma brought her to me as a 3 month old when I had just found out about the possibility of renting my studio space in Escanaba.  I remember chatting about it with them, and thinking during her session how much easier things would be if I weren’t tripping over everything, and constantly rearranging to make my little spare-room studio work.  Fast-forward a few months and they were the first clients to come view their photos in my new space.  And, when they brought Elsie in for her 6 month photos, things were indeed so much easier!

Elsie was absolutely adorable, as always, though she was not quite as happy to see me as the last time we met.  One thing guaranteed to make her break out in smiles was her mom singing to her (which was lovely and enjoyed by all of us, not just Elsie).

I had my husband working hard to get the barnwood ready for this session.  At this point it still wasn’t 100% done – we didn’t have a secure way to hold the vertical boards, so I utilized my seamless paper for the light boards, and luckily was able to take advantage of the gorgeous brick in my studio space for the dark boards.  So, there was still some rearranging to do during the session, but I wasn’t tripping over myself to do it!  (He’s since built an amazing platform for the barnwood, closer to the ground than my old one so I don’t have to worry about little ones possibly crawling off, and which allows me to flip the few middle boards to make each section wider as needed.  It’s gorgeous and I’m excited to share it with you in future posts!)

So here are a few favorite images from Elsie’s session – it’s amazing how fast they change in just 3 months!
