Brittany contacted me a few months ago to plan a session for her and her husband.  They live in Kentucky and were planning on a trip to Negaunee near Thanksgiving, and had never had professional photos taken.  Even their wedding photos were taken by a friend.  So it was special and fun to be able to do this for them. It was especially fun because they both *love* the snow, and I was so entertained seeing people who were actually excited about it!  It was nice to view our landscape with fresh eyes, from the perspective of someone who doesn’t have to live with it 8 months out of the year.  In fact snowmobilers kept crossing our path, and I think James was just about ready to stop one of them to see if he could take a turn.

They had planned on driving down to Escanaba for their session, but we had gotten a bunch of rain that week that had melted every last bit of snow (except, somehow, the snow JUST IN MY YARD.  Seriously?!)  Negaunee had our backs though, and I made a trek up to them so we could have the winter landscape they were hoping for.  It really was refreshing to photograph in new surroundings.  I had photographed my sister-in-law’s family at this location a few years back, but that was during the summer.  I love the contrast of the rusty metal with the white snow, so much in fact that it *almost* makes me want to get out and photograph in the snow more often!
